Here’s wishing a speedy recovery to NBC broadcaster and TEAMS ’13 panelist Bob Costas
as he battles an eye infection that will temporarily keep him off the air, ending a Lou Gehrig-like streak of 157 consecutive prime-time Olympic broadcasts. Bob is a true professional and we know he’ll be back up and running soon.
Watching the Olympics so far, it’s gratifying to see so many familiar faces from
SportsTravel magazine and the TEAMS Conference who have had a presence worldwide. Keynote speakers and Olympians Dan Jansen (TEAMS '10 in Charlotte) and Greg Louganis (TEAMS '13 in Salt Lake City) are featured in the same Coca-Cola commercial, and Dan is also making an appearance in a spot for Liberty Mutual. Women's ski jumping made its Olympic debut with the help from president of Women's Ski Jumping USA and former mayor of Salt Lake City Deedee Corradini, who led a session at Utah Olympic Park at
TEAMS '13 (see SportsTravel's Q&A with her here). And sportscaster and former professional tennis player Mary Carillo, who was featured in a Q&A in the December 2011 edition of SportsTravel, has spent a great deal of time in Sochi interviewing athletes and touring the landscape.
